    RULES & REGULATIONS

    Note

    Students of first shall be posted in general Medical, Surgical ward for developing skills in basic nursing experience and it shall not be applicable for developing specialized skills in these areas.

    Community Health experience in 2nd year (2 Weeks). Community Health Nursing experience has been prescribed for 2 year in order to give desired leaning experiences and to keep continuity. The concepts of Medical Surgical and Psychiatric nursing can also be applied to Community Health Nursing experience.

    No Night duty experience in the first year. Only 8 weeks of night duty experience is to be given through out the training period.

    The extra hours, which have not been accounted for in this syllabus, can be planned and utilized by individual Schools as per their need.

    Eligibility for Admission to Examination
    A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Examination if

    The Head of the School Certifies that


    She/he has completed not less than eleven months of the course and that her total performance has been satisfactory during that period.

    She/ he has attended 75% of the formal instructions given on each subject and 75% field experience separately during the year. However the total field experience / clinical experience prescribed must be completed before the final examination (3rd year) but the Diploma shall not be awarded until the student has completed the field work requirements.

    The over all performance of the students & his / her conduct during the entire academic year has been satisfactory. The student has to pass in the internal assessment in each subject that is both in the teaching and practical by scoring 50% marks separating in the each theory and practical.

    Her/ his record of practical experience is up- to- date.

    The head of the School sends to the Council / Board the internal marks for each paper as well as practical.

     
    Supplementary Examination
    The Council shall conduct supplementary examination with in six months of the annual examinations


    If a student fails in one theory paper/practical, she/ he may be allowed to proceed to the next year of study. She / he will sit for a supplementary examination held subsequently in the failed subject/ practical. If she/he fails to clear supplementary examination she/ he shall be allowed to sit again with her next year annual examination.

    If a student fails in two or more papers or practical she/he will not be allowed to proceed to the next year. She/he shall sit for supplementary examination in the failed subject / practicals only but shall be eligible for the next year's examination after one academic year from the date of passing the last examination.

    No candidate of category (a) shall be allowed to proceed to third year (higher class), unless she/he has passed in the subject of the previous year (backlog to the second year.)

    If a student fails in one theory paper/ practical examination of third year, she/ he may be allowed to proceed for internship She/her will sit for supplementary examination held subsequently in the failed subject/ practical.

    If a student fails in two or more papers/ practicals she/ he will not be allowed proceed for internship. She/he shall sit for supplementary examination in the failed subject/ practicals only. A student shall not be allowed to proceed for internship till he/ she clears third year examination.

     
    Theory Examination should

    Nursing teacher with minimum five year of teaching experience in a particular subject may be appointed has paper selector and examiner for that particular subject only.

    Question paper should be based on easy, short answer and objective type of question.

    All unites of a subject and sub subject should be give one due wait as in accordance with the structural hrs. prescribed.

     
    Practical Examination should

    Practical examination should be conducted in the respective clinical area.

    Nursing teacher with minimum of 5 year of teaching and clinical experience in a particular subject/ clinical area may be appointed has practical examiner.

    Should have Nurse Examination only.

    Should be conducted as far as possible in the actual work situation in a ward or at the Health Center or village rather than in a classroom.

    Internal and External examination shall jointly evaluate each candidate for practical examination.

     
    Not more than 10-15 students should be examined per day.
